Position Part Time Legal Assistant- Ukrainian Support
Description Part-Time Legal Assistant (Ukrainian-Focused) - 22.5 Hours/Week Location: Bridgeport, CT

Organization: Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI)
CIRI is seeking a mission-driven, detail-oriented Part-Time Legal Assistant to join our Immigration Legal Services team. This position will focus on supporting Ukrainian clients as they navigate the U.S. immigration system. You'll work closely with attorneys and DOJ-accredited representatives to keep cases organized, clients informed, and legal processes moving forward efficiently and compassionately.
Position Details: - Schedule: 22.5 hours per week; flexible within standard business hours
- Compensation: $20-$21 per hour
- Classification: Part-time, non-exempt
Key Responsibilities: - Support Ukrainian clients by attending meetings, providing case updates, and offering appropriate referrals.
- Conduct legal research and summarize immigration laws relevant to each case.
- Draft case-related documents, including correspondence, motions, and legal memos for review.
- Review and organize client files, prepare immigration forms, and assist with filing.
- Maintain accurate electronic case records, including reminders, deadlines, and file tracking.
- Provide administrative support: scheduling, phone/email communication, document scanning, and data entry.
Qualifications: - Paralegal experience or equivalent experience working in immigration law.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, databases, and digital tools.
- Experience working with immigrant populations.
- Commitment to CIRI's mission of supporting refugees, immigrants, and their families.
Preferred but not required: - Ukrainian language skills
- Knowledge of humanitarian-based immigration relief (e.g., TPS, asylum, parole)
