Manufacturing Engineer - Fiber Optics

With offices all over the U.S., we are looking for someone out of our Ashville location! We designs and manufactures high-performance connectors and sensors that thrive in harsh environments-from deep-sea oil rigs to outer space, and everything in between. We have been in business for over 75 years and are contuing to be a leader in our space!

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Fiber Optics to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring quality control, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires a strong understanding of optical design and the ability to apply engineering principles to enhance product efficiency and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement manufacturing processes for fiber optic products
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality control measures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and improve optical systems
• Utilize CAD software to create and modify engineering designs
• Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
• Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for manufacturing issues
• Manage projects from conception through testing and validation phases
• Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing staff
• Monitor production metrics and identify areas for optimization
• Prepare and maintain documentation related to manufacturing processes and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in fiber optics
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control
• Experience with optical design and testing methodologies
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma practices
• Proficiency in CAD software for engineering design
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong project management abilities
• Understanding of compliance standards in manufacturing
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
