Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.

The selected candidate will teach a 4-4 load that includes American National Government and upper-level courses in law and judicial politics with topics such as civil rights, liberties, and the intersection of law, justice, and society. The ability to teach courses in public administration or public policy is a plus.

The selected candidate is expected to mentor a roster of students majoring in Political Science and participate in departmental committees and service initiatives. Service includes helping support the Center for Justice & Society with co-curricular activities such as the mock trial team and pre-law internships. The selected candidate is also expected to maintain an active research agenda.

The selected candidate will teach some online courses either asynchronously or in a hybrid format. Those with online teaching experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Required Education and Experience:
The Department of History, Political Science, Philosophy and American Studies in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, invites qualified candidates to submit applications for Assistant Professor of Political Science. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position with a start date of August 16, 2026 that serves both in-person and online degree programs. Ph.D. in Political Science is required by the start date of the appointment. ABD candidates with a completion date by August 15, 2026 are welcome to apply. A successful background check is required.
